VINTAGE 1934-1948 BOY SCOUT BRIDGEPORT HATCHET AND NEW CUSTOM SHEATH

Description

ITEM:  Up for consideration is a restored 1934-1948 (identified by the 1" tab below the head) Bridgeport Boy Scout hatchet.  Bought it rusted and with a cracked handle.  Sanded from 80 grit to 800 grit to remove most of the imperfections, then polished and paint filled the stampings.  The handle is Bird's Eye Maple.  The frame was epoxy filled, and the handles also secured with Loveless Bolts.  Stained Buckskin and three coats of
polyurethane.  A new sharp edge was added.
The sheath is custom hand made to fit the hatchet, 7-8 oz heavy leather with a wide welt.  Brass rivets and snaps.  All edges were glued and hand stitched with heavy 4 ply waxed thread.  The Scout stamp is a facsimile of the discontinued in 1954 and is not the current official stamp.
