    A scarce contemporary counterfeit with a Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co. imprint. This interesting blue printed note shows brawny men working in a foundry at top right. A portrait of Washington is in the lower right corner. At the left end, the New York bank seal is between "5" counters. A large blue "5" is at the left and a red FIVE is at the bottom. A very bold example with fabulous color contrast.
