Description

1849 stampless from Columbus, Ohio to Urbana.  Red CS, paid handstamp, 5 manusript rate.  Black shield "cH. City Bk." marking at lower left, which is a "charge box" marking instructing the post office to charge the letter to a particular account (in this case, City Bank).  There are only a few different handstamp charge box markings from Ohio.  This one is the most common but still unusual.
